Centro is the “downtown Playa del Carmen” is the liveliest tourist area and famous for its Shops, Restaurants, Bars and lodging here everything is walkable. The primary pedestrian street is the broad La Quinta 5^th Ave which you will find street vendors, don’t forget to bargain top shops, performers, tequila tasting rooms and everything you can imagine. You will find different restaurant options that goes from a Taqueria to high end Steak houses, it’s all according to your budget or mood, there different bars and cantinas where you can get a cold drink and sit-down watching people past by.

Following the beach up to the north part of town you’ll enter the North End. This a residential, Airbnb and condo area is quieter but still provides easy walking access to Centro. If you’re renting a vacation home for a large group, this is a popular area as it’s fairly hip and on the rise. On the south part you will find Playacar is a large-scale residential development. Great beaches, a few hotels and restaurants and a quieter, more laid-back vibe. Golf courses, parks, and shopping centers define these “suburbs” of Playa del Carmen.
